President's Message
Nicole Ivers, CIH, CSP, CMIOSH
Georgia Safety Conference President (2023-2024)
I am pleased to welcome you back to the 28th Georgia Safety Conference, to be held September 6-8, 2023. With tradition, our conference will be taking place in Savannah, Georgia at the Marriott Savnnah Riverfront Hotel. There has been a lot of exciting activity since we last met, including new branding to align with so many new advancements in the world of safety. We are excited and ready to show you our expansive educational program with a variety of new and traditional topic areas and top-caliber presenters.
EDUCATIONOf course, our main feature of the conference is always our broad array of educational presentations. This year we plan to add more variety to the topics as well as platforms, including more discussion and Q&A. Topic areas include all areas of safety and health including construction, general industry, fleet, fire, Industrial Hygiene, and more, but also includes Human Resources, legal, workers compensation, and Environmental. I am especially pleased to present a new content area specifically focused on Human Performance, which is no doubt the most important topic in the world of incident prevention and operational excellence today. As part of the educational program, we have special sessions by leading and well-known experts on OSHA compliance and Human Performance Learning Teams. You won’t want to miss these special sessions!
COLLABORATION AND NETWORKING ACTIVITIESThis conference is always a place to be for collaboration and networking. You won’t want to miss opportunities to browse our vendors in the exhibition hall and network with other attendees. We also have a number of great activities planned for our conference, including a baseball game, golf tournament fundraiser, vendor reception, and the traditional dueling pianos night!
COST, CME/CEUs With inflation and costs on the rise, we understand how even a small increase in fees can make a difference between attending or not. We have always strived to keep prices low enough that small business, as well as Fortune 500 companies, can send their employees and feel they have received top value for the cost. Compared to many other conferences, we have intentionally kept our fees lower, providing a cost-effective way to earn continuing education credits - including BSCP, ABIH, IHMM, and SHRM- while keeping excessive travel costs down. We also provide discounts for groups. This continues to be our goal even in tough economic times.
Finally, a big thank you to all of you who have made and continue to make this conference a success, year after year – our sponsors, exhibitors, our own board of volunteers, and attendees. We could not do it without you. Please feel free to contact me if you have any comments, questions, or feedback on the conference – we are always striving to learn! Hope to see you all in Savannah!
